All within 24 hours, our plans to continue on our journey to California were changed.
Flights were cancelled and rescheduled, dates were pushed back, reservations were adjusted (and lost), housing went back on what they had said initially regarding our eligibility date, we made plans to work around housing that would be costly, then that plan seemed like it wasn’t going to work out either.
Door after door is being shut.
I knew when I started writing about trust and choosing to lean into God instead of worrying about my circumstances, that I was opening myself up for God to work in me. I knew trials would come. And even though these aren’t huge life-changing struggles, they are still stretching my faith.
I’m daily (and moment-by-moment) having to choose to believe there’s a plan even though I don’t know what it is.
Every door shut is encouraging me (even if only slightly), that at least I know for sure which doors not to knock down.
There’s a time and place for persistence (Matthew 7:7-8), but right now as each door closes, I’m reminded how even now God is using this time to trust him more.
Because I need it more than any motivational quote right now, I’m going to start including Bible verses at the end of these posts. Hopefully they’ll encourage you, too.
Verses for Today:
The Lord will work out his plans for my life– for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me. Psalms 138:8 NLT
But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken. Psalms 33:11 NLT
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28 NLT
And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Hebrews 10:21-23 NLT
What are some quotes or verses that have encouraged you to keep going even through trials?
